The 16th Nilo-Saharan Linguistics Colloquium (NISA) on Aug. 29, 2023 to Sept. 1, 2023, 4th floor of the University of Nairobi Towers

The 16th Nilo-Saharan Linguistics Colloquium (NISA) will be hosted jointly by the University of Nairobi and the University of Cologne from August 29, 2023 to September 1, 2023 on the 4th floor of the University of Nairobi Towers. The theme of this colloquium is “Linguistic, Sociocultural and Indigenous Perspectives”. The university is honoured and privileged to be accorded the opportunity to host the 16th Nilo-Saharan Colloquium, after hosting another one in 2015. The University is hosting it again in less than 10 years.

Team Integrity, the new Faculty leaders

The University of Nairobi held its Faculty and Campus Students Association (FCSA) annual elections. The elections were held virtually on Friday March 25th, 2022.

There were three teams competing for FCSA office in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences FOASS; Team Success, Team Okuz and Team Integrity.

Team Integrity took the lead with a total of 1361 votes followed closely by Team Okuz with 1179 votes. The incoming Chairperson representing FOASS in FCSA is Peter Nguka.

The Second African Pragmatics Conference,2022

The Second African Pragmatics conference was hosted by the University of Nairobi, department of Linguistics and was held from 2nd-4th February,2022. The conference was kick started by several remarks including several from the Associate Vice chancellor, Research and Innovation, Prof. Margaret Hutchinson and the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Stephen Kiama.
