In German linguistics German language is studied from a scientific perspective. Students registered for B.A. German studies or M.A. German Studies take course units in which they are taken through German phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, semantics, sociolinguistics discourse analysis and pragmatics. They also polish their speaking and writing skills in German.

Admission Requirements

Admission Requirements

A candidate must satisfy the prescribed University of Nairobi and Faculty of Arts admission requirements.

  1. K.C.S.E., grade B- in German
  2. K.C.S.E., grade C in German and certificates of attendance of German Language Courses, equivalent to at least level Zertifikat Deutsch (B1)
  3. K.C.S.E. and certificates of German Language Examinations, recognized by the Senate, equivalent to at least level Zertifikat Deutsch (B1)
  4. K.C.S.E. and German Language proficiency, deemed by the Senate to be equivalent to any of the above.

A candidate shall be allowed to register only in those course units and their combinations approved by the Faculty. Any modification of such combination(s) shall be allowed only after obtaining the approval by the Dean.
